A Celebration of Two CMU Icons: Piano Music by Nikolai Lopatnikoff & Nancy Galbraith

This recital will feature pianist Nanette Kaplan Solomon performing solo piano music by Nikolai Lopatnikoff (1903-1976), who was an internationally known Neoclassic composer and beloved composition professor at CMU (then Carnegie Tech) from 1945-1969, and solo and four-hand piano music by Nancy Galbraith, current long-time distinguished Professor of Composition at CMU. Dr. Solomon's doctoral dissertation on the piano music of Nikolai Lopatnikoff is the only existing monograph on this important composer, and her CD recording of Lopatnikoff's piano music on the Laurel label has received outstanding critical reviews from Fanfare and other reputable magazines.
